Cruise itinerary

From Friday Mar 02 to Saturday Mar 03Depart: 11:00 PM

Romantically referred to by the French as the Pearl of the Orient, Ho Chi Minh City today is a super-charged city of sensory overload. Motorbikes zoom day and night along the wide boulevards, through the narrow back alleys and past vendors pushing handcarts hawking goods of all descriptions. Still called Saigon by most residents, this is Vietnam’s largest city and the engine driving the country’s current economic resurgence, but despite its frenetic pace, it’s a friendlier place than Hanoi and locals will tell you the food—simple, tasty, and incorporating many fresh herbs—is infinitely better than in the capital. This is a city full of surprises.

Sunday Mar 04

The Tien River is one of several offshoots of the Mekong River that splits off and flows through Vietnam before spilling out into the South East Asia Sea. The Mekong (“Nine Dragon river delta”) is the 12th-longest river and the 7th-longest in Asia, with a length of approximately length is 2,703 miles. The Tien River is a very important part of the culture and daily life, not only providing a ‘highway’ for transporting, but also livelihoods. One of the special sights are the floating markets where hundreds of boats gather on the water, each selling a particular product such as watermelon, pineapple, avocado, durian or plums.

Monday Mar 05Arrive: 5:30 AM , Depart: 12:00 PM

Cai Be is a river-land mixed town in Vietnam. It is a rural district of Tiền Giang Province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. Along the river, there are docks that handle passengers and goods plus the local floating market. Farmers from the region bring their goods, fruits and vegetables mainly, to the markets and sell them to local dealers. These dealers sell the products to shops in the neighbouring towns and to wholesale dealers from the big towns. In the picture, you can see a local farmer with fruits for sale. All big boats have a pole. Each wholesaler hangs the goods he buys/sells on this pole. This way, people on small boats know where they have to go from a certain distance.

Tuesday Mar 06Arrive: 11:00 AM , Depart: 7:30 PM

Con Son is the largest of 15 islands in the Con Dao Archipelago, 80km from the mainland Mekong Delta region and 230km from Saigon. The island’s remoteness and former use as a penal colony have kept it in relatively pristine condition: 80% is still forested. The thick canopy provides habitat for all sorts of exotic sounding animals endemic to the archipelago: the Con Dao bow-fingered gecko and Con Dao black giant squirrel are just two. The islands are rugged and mountainous, the highest peak reaching 557m. The ocean is home to dugongs (sea cows) and sea turtles that lay their eggs on the beaches from March to August.

While we’re at sea, enjoy wine tastings, designer boutiques, language and dance classes. Take in a matinee movie, check the market or your e-mail in the Internet Point, slip away with a novel from the library to a sunny chaise or with a movie to your suite. Or just take in the sun pool side. The choice is yours.

Thursday Mar 08Arrive: 7:30 AM , Depart: 4:00 PM

Quy Nhon in Vietnam is entered through a gracious, sweeping bay and is a city that maintains its charm and natural beauty despite being densely populated, with 300,000 people living there. Quy Nhon is the capital of Binh Dinh Province in Vietnam, and although the city was officially founded in the late 18th century, its history dates back to the 11th century when it was central to Champa culture. The Hinduism and cultural traditions from Quy Nhon’s Champa roots still permeates the arts and culture of this city today. The long-stretching coast is said to embrace the entire city, and beaches in this area are clean and quiet despite being adjacent to an urban center.

Friday Mar 09 Arrive: 9:00 AM , Depart: 5:00 PM

Da Nang is the third largest city in Vietnam with the land area of 1283 square kilometre and the population of approximately 1million people. Da Nang is growing into one of the most organized urban area, with attractive beach front villas on the one side and Han River flowing on the other. Of the few attractions that belong to the city, Museum of Cham stands out with its rich collection of Cham artefacts. For those who crave for more outdoors activities, My Khe beach is a good place to spend time, either by yourself or with your loved ones. Da Nang is in close proximity to Hue- 3 hours North and Hoi An- 30 minutes south, which makes it a perfect stop point for those who need a break from touristy areas.

Saturday Mar 10Arrive: 5:30 AM , Depart: 1:30 PM

Quang Binh is a province in Vietnam, about 490km south of Hanoi. The entire area spans 8,037sqkm and serves as home to a population of more than 800,000 people. The city of Dong Hoi is the provincial capital. Dong My is an urban ward in Dong Hoi. From Dong My, we can visit the main tourist destination in the province such as the Phong Nha- Ke Bang National Park situated in both the provincial districts of Bo Trach and Minh Hoa. This protected area is found in the Truong Son limestone zone. The national park is home to massive karsts, as well as plenty of caves and grottoes. In 2003, it was declared a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Sunday Mar 11Arrive: 7:30 AM , Depart: 3:00 PM

Cat Ba is the largest of the 367 islands spanning 260 km2 (100 sq. mi) that comprise the Cat Ba Archipelago, which makes up the south-eastern edge of Ha Long Bay in Northern Vietnam. Cat Ba island has a surface area of 285 km2 (110 sq. mi) and maintains the dramatic and rugged features of Ha Long Bay. Cat Ba is the largest island in the Bay and approximately half of its area is covered by a National Park, which is home to the highly endangered Cat Ba Langur. The island has a wide variety of natural ecosystems, both marine and terrestrial, leading to incredibly high rates of biodiversity.

From Tuesday Mar 13 to Wednesday Mar 14

Arrive: 7:00 AM, Depart: 11:59 PM

Located immediately north of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is a large, dynamic and highly urbanized metropolis and the gateway to the inland region of Guilin, which is accessed by train. In contrast to this urban starting point, the train from Shenzhen to Guilin reveals magnificent scenery of steep karst hills and beautifully stepped agricultural areas that follow the natural curves of the hilly terrain. Guilin means “Forest of Sweet Osmanthus” for its large number of fragrant trees, and is one of China’s most popular tourist destinations because of its lovely natural landscapes. Although less urbanized than Shenzhen, Guilin is still a populous area, with over 4.7 million residents in the region.

Thursday Mar 15Arrive: 6:30 AM

The Hong Kong Island skyline, with its ever-growing number of skyscrapers, speaks to ambition and money. Paris, London, even New York were centuries in the making, while Hong Kong’s towers, bright lights, and glitzy shopping emporia weren’t yet part of the urban scene when many of the young investment bankers who fuel one of the world’s leading financial centers were born. Commerce is concentrated in the glittering high-rises of Central, tucked between Victoria Harbor and forested peaks on Hong Kong Island’s north shore.
